Sammy’s Milk ingredients are carefully chosen for their nutritive contribution to a balanced nutritious formula. Every so often we field a host of questions on our ingredients, so we’ll cover the nutrients and what each contributes to our formula in depth here.

Free Range Whole Goat Milk Powder
You may have noticed we have a favorite hashtag at Sammy’s Milk, #welovegoats, because we do really love goats. They supply milk around the world that is easier for babies’ developing digestive systems to break down. Of all the Sammy’s Milk ingredients, free-range goat milk is key. Not only is it easy to digest, but it supplies protein and oligosaccharides that make it more similar to human milk than it’s bovine counterpart. For lactose intolerant, or cow milk sensitive babies, goat milk is a great resolution.
Avocado Oil

The awesome avocado is the fruit chock full of nutrition with five essential nutrients toddlers need. Avocados have fiber, vitamin C, Magnesium, folate, and vitamin K. But they also have protein, magnesium, potassium, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, and vitamin E. In all, avocados have 20 different vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients. Why does it matter? Those nutrients are needed to help absorb fat soluble nutrients like vitamin A,D and K. They also contribute to bone, eye, and immune system development and growth.
Wild Caught Fish Oil
Want your baby to be the smart one in school? We do too. The wild caught fish oil in our nutrients is essential to developing brains. Oily fish fatty acids are essential to brain, eyes and immune system development, but the benefits don’t stop there. Fish oil helps with development of the heart, skin, cognition, nervous system and more. Babies absolutely need this fatty acid for best development. Sustainably caught, wild fish oil provides a natural answer to the needs of developing babies.
Tapioca
Tapioca is not just a starch filler. It is actually a natural binding agent and nutritious addition to Sammy’s Milk ingredients. Tapioca, derived from cassava tubers, is easy to digest, and free of common allergens like those in wheat or soy. Often used for people who have problems with food digestion, tapioca is also a source of calcium, and iron. Because it doesn’t add overwhelming flavor, this Sammy’s Milk ingredient enhances the texture without ruining the taste. More importantly, it keeps the ingredients properly mixed so the blend is right, each time you make a bottle.
Calcium in tapioca enhances inter-nerve communication, blood clotting and other body functions. Iron is a part of hemoglobin in the blood, and hemoglobin carries oxygen all over the body. Without iron and hemoglobin, symptoms of anemia like shortness of breath, fatigue and chest pain can occur.
Molasses
Molasses comes from the sugar cane or sugar beets and is the byproduct of the production of white granular sugar. It is the thick brown syrup left after the sugar crystals are removed from the liquid. Some think molasses is in our formula to make it taste good to babies. But molasses contributes essential minerals like iron to our formula. In fact, only 1 tablespoon of blackstrap molasses has as much iron as fortified cereals. When you figure in the selenium, copper, calcium, potassium and vitamin B-6, molasses is another nutrition hero.
Methylated Vitamins
These are not just any vitamin supplements you find in the local store. Methylated vitamins are activated, so tiny sensitive tummies can absorb them into their system more easily than regular supplements. When enough of a critical B vitamin (5-MTHF) is present in bodies, the methylation cycle works great. Babies are still developing and may need the activation started for them. Even in adults about 60% of Americans have a genetic mutation that makes it difficult to create enough 5-MTHF. Vitamins in the methyl state have well documented proven benefits and we include them to ensure babies are able to fully process the nutrition in Sammy’s Milk ingredients.
Transparency of Sammy’s Milk Ingredients
We don’t hide what’s in the bottle. We proudly display it on its own page on our website under Ingredients. We’re careful about what goes into our formula, because we know what it means to our customers to rest assured they can give their child healthy, clean nutrition each time.
